REGULAR MEETING OF SCIENTIFIC CLUB IN UROLOGY
The meeting of students’ scientific club at department of urology, devoted to the topic of prostate gland cancer – the second cancer pathology in the world and Ukraine due to prevalence, took place on 15, March, 2018. The topic directly concerned the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of castration refractory cancer of prostate – last stage in evolution of disease, which causes to the death of most patients with this nosology.
During the introductory part of the meeting the scientific supervisor of SSC at department of urology, Candidate of Medicine, assistant professor P.H. Yakovlev emphasized the urgency of this problem for modern oncourology and shared with his own experience with treatment of patients that suffer from castration refractory cancer of prostate.
After that two students made the reports on this topic. The first one was the student of the 5th course in medical faculty No 1 Ivashyn Yevhen, who described the modern opinions on etiology, diagnostics and treatment of this pathology, having paid the main attention namely to the newest approaches to treatment.
The next one was the student of the 5th course in medical faculty No 1 Nikolaienko Sofiia, who concentrated the attention on biochemical, genetic and molecular biological aspects of risk factors and mechanisms for development of castration refractory cancer of prostate gland.
After completion of reports they had the heated discussion about topic of prostate cancer and received information between the scientific supervisor, reporter and attendants.
