MEETING OF SCHOOL-SEMINAR “PROBLEMS OF BIOETHICS AND PHYSICS OF LIVING MATTER”
The regular meeting of school-seminar “Problems of bioethics and physics of living matter” (scientific supervisor assistant professor Yehorenkov A.I.), in which the students from medical faculty No 3, delegated for participation in this event, took an active part, was held on 16, March, 2018.
The topic of seminar was “Bioethical and psychological aspects in problem of suicides among youth”. During the meeting they watched the performance “Over gulf in … (producer A. Rybikova) by Lesia Ukrainka National Theater. The discussion of issues, related to social, psychological and ethical aspects of problem and risk factors of suicide, was held in dialog between students and actors – participants in performance. In fact it was the continuation of another our seminar on issues of bioethics, where we earlier discussed the concept on logotherapy by famous Austrian psychiatrist, psychologist and neurologist Victor Frankle. The students, assistant professor Seliukov H.I. (department of psychiatry at NMU), producer of performance and actors took part in discussion at seminar. Assistant professor Seliukov H.I. paid attention of the present people that the additional risk factor for suicide for a certain layer of youth is the social infantilism and inclination to scandalous behavior. During preliminary preparation for the seminar they performed the survey among medical students of the 1st year of study. For example, they were asked about “meaning of life”. The students answered to the question about meaning of their life by the following way: “My life has the meaning because – 1) I have the goal (48% of respondents), 2) I have the obligations (28% of respondents), 3) because “the life is beautiful” (24% of respondents).
The participant in this discussion, student of medical faculty No 3 at O.O. Bogomolets NMU Ivanna Denysiuk formulates her thoughts on occasion of topic for discussion by the following way: “The plot of performance is ambiguous but it suggests us to reflections. In my opinion, the performance is good to be watched both by teenagers and their parents. The topic is urgent for medical students as it closely relates to the psychology and ability to communicate with people, who are inclined to suicide”.
