THE HOSTELS OF STUDENTS’ QUARTER OF NMU ARE READY FOR SETTLEMENT OF STUDENTS
On the eve of the new academic year the rector of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, professor Kateryna Amosova visited all hostels of university that are in Shutov Street, 14. Kateryna Amosova checked the conditions in fulfillment of works and readiness of hostels with observance of sanitary, ecological and fire safety rules before settlement of students.
The territory of students’ quarter is systematized and arranged in excellent conditions.
According to the words of heads at hostels, all repair works have already been finished; the new floors have been installed; the repair of students’ kitchens has been completed. “The new ceiling have been made, the reading halls for students have been repaired; the interior painting works have been performed. The windows and doors have been replaced in all rooms, the capital repair of sanitary facilities and toilets has been finished, the new toilet bowls and washstands, as well as modern shower units have been installed”, – told the heads at hostels of students’ quarter of NMU.
The repaired hostels assist to successful study and life, as the director in Institute of hygiene and ecology, professor Serhii Omelchuk thinks: “The students’ quarter for me is the historical erections as I started my student’s way there. The hostels were put into operation in 1967. Since that time there has been no capital repair. And the hostels of corridor type for a long time contained 5 beds (rooms with the large of area). All utilities in hostels worked with the great load: every year about 200-250 persons lived in addition to the abovementioned norm there. The load was for electrical network, sanitary facilities, kitchens and shower units”, – emphasized Serhii Omelchuk.
The first thing that the new administration of university made was bringing the territory of students’ quarter to the excellent appearance (there had been the garages there before and the ownerless dogs were walking). All hostels of university were repaired.
The capital repair of hostels became possible thanks to additional money, which administration of university at the head with the rector, professor Kateryna Amosova found from the special fund. One of the sources from the special fund is the Institute of hygiene and ecology, which is headed by professor Serhii Omelchuk already for 3 years.
As of today, the toilet rooms, washstands, kitchens have completely been repaired, all windows (including basements) have been replaced. The premise for meetings of students’ self-government is allocated in hostel No 4; there are the gymnasiums, laundries, which are equipped with washing machines.
“The things that the university administration makes today to improve the living conditions and conditions for study of students are the right way that assists to successful selection and study. It is inadmissible to live in the XXI century under conditions in which the students had lived before”, – thinks the director in Institute of hygiene and ecology.
Separately it should be mentioned about landscaping in the students’ quarter – today it is the visiting card of the territory and its residents – students of NMU.
The administration of university at the head with the rector Kateryna Amosova for two years already implements all projects and ideas of academic community at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, as well as takes care that the students would feel comfortably and would have the proper conditions both for study and residence.
