ІІ STAGE IN ALL-UKRAINIAN STUDENTS’ OLYMPIAD IN MICROBIOLOGY, VIROLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY

The II stage in all-Ukrainian students’ Olympiad in discipline “Microbiology, virology and immunology” took place on 7-8, April, 2016 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university at department of microbiology, virology and immunology, which is the supportive one in Ukraine.

The jury included the leading scientists and pedagogues – corresponding member in NAS of Ukraine, professor Spivak M.Ya., head at laboratory of interferon and immunomodulators at D.K. Zabolotnyy Institute of microbiology and virology at NAS of Ukraine, professor Zadorozhnya V.I., director in L.V. Gromashevskyy Institute of epidemiology and infectious diseases at NAMS of Ukraine, professor Dziublyk I.V., head at department of virology at P.L. Shupyka NMAPE at MHC of Ukraine, etc.

The best students, winners in the 1^st stage of Olympiad from different higher schools in Ukraine, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernivsty, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Poltava, Ternopil and Zaporizhe took part in the Olympiad. This year the department received 36 participants in the Olympiad. The participants at the ceremony of solemn opening were welcomed by responsible person for performance of the II stage in all-Ukrainian Olympiad at department, academician in NAS and NAMS of Ukraine, professor Shyrobokov V.P., pro-rector on scientific work professor Cherenko T.M., director in Institute of hygiene and ecology, professor Omelchuk S.T. and acting dean in medical faculty No 4, Candidate of Medicine, assistant Volodiy M.O.

The Olympiad consisted of two tournaments. The first tournament (theoretical) anticipated the assessment of theoretical knowledge at students. The competitive tasks of the 1^st tournament included 5 questions from different sections of microbiology, virology and immunology. In the second tournament (practical) the students competed, solving the situational tasks, painted, made the microscopy and analyzed the bacterial medicines. The winners were defined in the individual competition due to the total number of scores, gained in two tournaments of the Olympiad.

The winner in competition was the student of the 3^rd course in medical faculty No 1 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university Nazariy Lazko, who was trained by Doctor of Medicine, professor Voytsekhovskyy V.G., the 2^nd place was taken by student in Ternopil I.Ya. Gorbachevskyy state medical university Kateryna Bulavina and student of Kharkiv national medical university Yelizaveta Pavlichuk. The 3^rd place was taken by student Albina Boyko from Medical institute at Sumy state university and students of the 3^rd course at O.O. Bohomolets NMU Oleksii Nikitin (teacher – assistant Ivanchenko D.I.). In general the Olympiad was held in the sincere and friendly atmosphere and the interesting excursion along the city was held at the end of the event within the cultural program for participants.
