THE 2ND STAGE IN ALL-UKRAINIAN STUDENTS’ OLYMPIAD IN INTERNAL MEDICINE
The 2nd stage in all-Ukrainian students’ Olympiad in discipline “Internal medicine” took place on 23-24, March, 2018 on base of department of internal medicine No 2 at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University. The pro-rector in scientific activity professor Tetiana Cherenko (chairman in organizing committee for performance of the 2nd stage at NMU) took part in solemn opening of event, welcomed the participants on behalf of university rector, professor Kateryna Amosova, told about history and achievements of Kyiv Therapeutic School, the pro-rector in scientific pedagogical activity assistant professor Olena Stechenko (deputy chairman in organizing committee) emphasized: “The Olympiad is not only the competition, which will define the best one, you are already the best because you take part in the Olympiad at all-Ukrainian level. The Olympiad is the important experience, exchange of opinions between the best students, who are famous not only with theoretical knowledge and acquisition of future special competencies in discipline “internal medicine”. The head at department of internal medicine No 2 at NMU, assistant professor Halyna Mostbauer; chairman of jury – head at department of internal medicine No 1 at NMU, professor Vadym Shypulin, as well as members in jury, who included the representatives from four medical higher schools of Ukraine wished the successes to students-participants.
35 participants from 13 medical higher schools and cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Uzhhorod, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Poltava, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, took part in the 2nd stage of all-Ukrainian Olympiad. The first tournament of Olympiad was held in the form of written work, which consisted of 50 test tasks. During the second day 16 best students, who due to results from written tests were admitted to the 2nd tournament, demonstrated the practical competencies: examination of patients with one of nosologies OCH with interpretation of data from additional examinations, put the diagnosis and prescribed the treatment, defined the prognosis for run of disease.
The jury under the head of professor Vadym Shypulin defined the winners in the Olympiad:
1st place – Komkina Mariia (O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University)
2nd place – Topiashvili Mykyta (O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University)
3rd place – Hnatenko Svitlana (M.I. Pyrohov Vinnytsia National Medical University)
3rd place – Ostrovskyi Vladyslav (Ukrainian Medical Dental Academy).
Professor V.P. Shypulin (chairman in jury), members in jury took part in closing and awarding the winners. They awarded the participants with certificates and emphasized that the present achievements of students are the important stage, which will help in the future to apply the acquired knowledge and prepare for very important work of doctor. Each student, who took part in the Olympiad, received the gifts – souvenir attributes with NMU logo and the winners in Olympiad – occupational scientific textbooks, edited by leading scientists of NMU. The participants, who showed good results, received the phonendoscopes, tonometers and pulseoxymeters. They prepared the cultural program for the students-participants within the 2nd stage in all-Ukrainian students’ Olympiad in internal medicine: they visited the National Museum of Medicine of Ukraine, as well as the assistant professor at department of internal medicine No 2 Bezrodnyi A.B. performed the master class in echocardiography.
