COURSE OF FIELD-SPECIFIC IMPROVEMENT “HEART FAILURE: PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY AID”

Taking into consideration the modern conditions that have formed in the society, the formation of competency on rendering the first aid acquires the special importance. The abovementioned priority is defined at state level that is reflected in Article 78 Law of Ukraine “Basics of legislation of Ukraine about health care”, dd. 19, November, 1992 No 2108 (with changes and amendments) about duty of medical and pharmaceutical employees free of charge to render the first emergency aid to citizens in case of accident and in other extreme situations”, as well as “constantly to improve the level of professional knowledge and mastership”.

Due to initiative from Institute of postgraduate education at O.O. Bohomolets NMU the University launched the course of field-specific improvement “Heart failure: prevention and emergency aid” for employees, who work at postgraduate stage.

The abovementioned issue is extremely urgent taking into consideration the fact that the main reason of death in Europe, and in particular in our country, is the heart failure that is often the manifestation of ischemic heart disease and other diseases of blood circulation system, the primary mechanism for heart failure in 25-50% is the defibrillation rhythms (ventrical fibrillation).

The study in the process of which the military students learnt the peculiarities for life-supporting manipulations, as well as drilled the skills for performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation using bi-phase, as well as automatic external defibrillators was performed by certified instructors from European council of reanimation – employees of the University: M.A. Omelchuk and I.V. Sirenko.
