THE NEW CYCLE OF CONTINUOUS SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS AND YOUNG SCIENTISTS CONTINUED ITS WORK

30.01.2018

The second lecture-training in cycle of continuous scientific education for young scientists and members in O.A. Kysil SSS at O.O. Bogomolets NMU from cycle “Bioethics in theory and practice of biomedical researches and implementation of newest technologies” took place on 26, January, 2018 at National Lesia Ukrainka Theater. The topic of this lecture: “The influence of social humanitarian context on practice in solution of bioethical problems”. The lecture was held by assistant professor Anatolii Yehorenkov (responsible secretary of Commission on Issues of Bioethical Examination at O.O. Bogomolets NMU). The members in Commission on Bioethics at O.O. Bogomolets NMU took part in the lecture, as well as the invited experts (assistant professor at department of neurosurgery of NMU V.V. Medvediev, assistant professor at department of bioethics and philosophy of Shupyka KMAPE – B.I. Ostapenko, Doctor of Biology, professor at NUFAFU – H.V. Korobeinikov). The extra-mural (in the form of video presentation) participant in lecture was famous historian of medicine, Doctor of Medicine, professor Hliantsev S.P. The employees in Lesia Ukrainka Theater also took part in lecture-training. The content of this event was the discussion and analysis of bioethical collisions. For visualization and establishment of “narrative” they firstly demonstrated the examples of problematic bioethical situations to the participants in the form of fragments from famous films with medical context (“Degree of risk” under novel by academician M. Amosov “The thoughts and the heart”, “Doctor House”, “The flight above cuckoo’s nest”, “Anatomy”, “Morphine” – under works by M. Bulhakov, “Life as infectious disease”, etc.).

Such approach enabled the lecturer to bring a wide range of bioethical problems to the participants and to start the search for solutions of collisions pursuant to modern bioethical knowledge.

The experts that took part in lecture before performance of the event were asked with the following questions for further public discussion: How are the models of interrelations in the system “doctor-patient” demonstrated in shown films and performances? Which bioethical collisions are offered to attention of spectators and which bioethical rules/principles are used for solution of bioethical problems? Can we talk about “ideal model” for behavior of patient or researcher without reference to social and historical context? Shall a doctor or scientist have the developed “ethical feeling” at the level with other professional competencies?

The answers to all these questions were received already during the lecture. In the process of this bioethical discourse the students agreed with the opinion that the bioethical collisions concern a wide range of problems that exceed the limits of medicine itself. They came to the conclusion that for the abilities of doctor to solve such collisions it is necessary to have a wide range of knowledge in the spheres of psychology, jurisprudence, ethics, history of medicine, philosophical anthropology, and in the first turn medicine itself.

After the lecture the students expressed their impressions in relation to the topic of lecture and form of performance. For example, the student of the 2nd course of O.O. Bogomolets NMU – Anastasiia Halahan wrote: “The nice organization, creative atmosphere of discussion that you can rarely see at similar events, and mostly important – very well explained topics that are important in modern medicine for professional discussion. The lecturer and the experts, who made the speeches, managed to describe the problem from interesting and unusual sides, relying on their scientific experience, knowledge in different spheres of biomedical and humanitarian knowledge. Not only we, the students, but a future professional in concrete spheres of medicine can understand many things from this lecture. I think that this testifies to professionalism and creative approach, with which the organizers of lecture came to their affair. Great gratitude to administration of NMU and O.A. Kysil SSS for possibility better to learn about the world of bioethics in such creative theatrical atmosphere that assists to our professional development”.
