PRESS-CONFERENCE AT INFORMATIONAL AGENCY UKRINFORM

On 22nd of July 2014 press-conference on “Results of graduation and current situation of entering campaigns in higher educational medical establishments. Medical personal providing situation” was held at press centre of Ukrainian national informational agency Ukrinform. Event organizer – Ukraine Ministry of Health.
The conference was participated by: Igor Naida – Ukraine Minister’s of Health advisor, Oleksandr Volosovets – acting director of Ukraine Ministry of Health Personnel, education and science department; Kateryna Amosova – rector of Bogomolets National Medical University.
Nowadays, Ukrainian medical field works in difficult conditions, because the deficit of physicians personnel in regions is 41,5 thousands of persons. That is why, this year Ukraine Ministry of Health increased the state program for physician preparation. The amount of studying places for physician specialties by direction “Medicine” is 5 165 persons (increased for 597 persons comparing to 2013, which was 4568 persons).
“On 20th of July 2014 country’s higher educational establishments was applied almost 70 thousands of applications from entrants, among them 48 723 were for to state program. The biggest completion is for pharmaceutical specialties, medical psychology and dentistry” – admits Oleksandr Volosovets.
Bogomolets National Medical University is absolutely leader among country’s higher educational establishments by the amount of applications applied.
Commenting the running of 2014 university entering campaign, Kateryna Amosova emphasizes that on 21st of July National Medical University was applied 12 715 of application, and it is much more than for corresponding period of previous year(10 900 applications).
“It confirms university’s authority in the country. Collective and students do everything possible to maintain this authority. That is why, the great attention is directed to providing democracy, openness and transparency during entering to our university. This year student’s representation at admission board is increased. Besides, this year it was attended by representatives of Anti-Corruption committee, which acts at the university”, – she said.
Rejecting the information from mass media about NMU doesn’t accept entrance applications from entrants from East of country, Kateryna Amosova informs that on today medical university was applied by 447 persons from Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea. At the end of last year entering campaign the amount of applications from these regions entrants was 320.
In its turn, Igor Naida informed about new healthcare system, which is being developed with public. “One of the important questions remains students’ government. Students shall be emphasized that they have not only to gain medical profession, but be conscious citizens. However from ancient times physician was at the same time also enlightener – the person who had a great respect in society. That is why, if students, future physicians, deeply understand their importance in society, then I am convinced, we will change the citizens’ attitude to healthcare field” – he summarized.
