TRAINING OF FACULTY MEMBERS AND STUDENTS FROM NMU IN WROCLAW MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Due to implementation of agreements of the Memorandum of understanding between Bogomolets National Medical University and Wroclaw Medical University (Poland), during July 2017 students and staff from NMU departments were trained in Wroclaw Medical University (Uniwersytet Medyczny im. Piastów Śląskich we Wrocławiu). A group of students included representatives of the student community, who have high academic and scientific achievements and are members of Kysil Student Scientific Society (Kysil SSS) and the Ukrainian Medical Students Association (UMSA): 4th year student of the medical faculty No. 1 Sofiia Nikolaienko (Chairman of the Kysil SSS Board), 4th year student of the medical faculty No. 2 Yurii Pidchenko (Secretary of the Kysil SSS Board) and a 4th year student of the medical faculty No. 2 Ivanna Shchyhel (Chairman of the Committee on international cooperation of UMSA).

During the 4-week program students have familiarized themselves with the 4 departments of the University Clinic of Wroclaw Medical University. Among them were: Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Pathology and Cancer Cytology, Department of Endocrinology, as well as the Department of Dermatology and Sexually transmitted diseases.

From 3 till 28 July 2017, senior laboratory assistant Yevhen Kostiuchenko passed training in Breast Cancer Center Unit of Lower Silesia under the guidance from Department of Oncology at Wroclaw Medical University, head of the Breast Department, Prof. dr hab. n. med. Rafał Matkowski, this is the most modern and advanced Centre for treatment of breast cancer in Poland, opened only in May 2017 onwards. Trainee was able to facilitate on cancer, cancer-plastic and reconstructive operations on mammary gland. Yevhen learned how to work with modern equipment (“MOZART TomoSpec (Kubtec)” System for Breast Specimen Radiography, “Sentimag”, sentinel lymph node localization instrument etc.), conduct diagnostic (MRI, USG, MMG) and brachytherapy in oncology.

Intern-pediatrician, graduate from the medical faculty No. 3 and student of pharmaceutical faculty (correspondence training) Mykhailo Medvedev underwent a month training in pediatric cancer-hematology. Training took place in Regional Children Cancer Center “Cape of hope” in Wroclaw, on basis of the Department and Clinic of bone marrow transplantation, oncology and pediatric hematology.

The participants express their deep gratitude to the NMU Administration for giving an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the work of one of the best medical universities in Poland, with the features of the health care system of the neighbor country, deepen knowledge and improve practical skills in different branches of medicine, as well as significantly broaden the horizons, also to establish contacts with representatives of Wroclaw Medical University and to continue cooperation at the student level.
