SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MASTERS FROM WELCOME TRUST. GREAT BRITAIN 2017

Welcome Trust offers the master scholarships to foreign students for study in Great Britain for the period from 12 months for advanced master’s course and up to 18 months – for advanced master’s course and performance of scientific project.

The program aims to support the researches, which will allow improving the public health care and tropical medicine at local, national and global levels.

Level of course: the scholarships are available for training of scientific staff at master’s level. The masters at extramural course of study are supported.

Subject (s): the researches shall be aimed to understanding and improvement of public health and tropical medicine at local, national and global levels. The public health and tropical medicine covers a wide range of problems with health, including infectious and non-infectious diseases. The topics include:

  • Demography, social sciences and economics of health care
  • Epidemiology, industry and society
  • System of health care and policy
  • Infectious and chronic diseases
  • Population
  • Clinical cases and “cases-control”
  • Research of mechanisms for disease
  • Factors that define the susceptibility and immunity to disease
  • Immunity or resistance to natural hosts or transmitters

It may include the laboratory researches pursuant to molecular analysis of field or clinical samples. But the projects, oriented only to in vitro researches and animal studies, are as a rule not considered within this program. The scholarship includes:

While passing through master’s course the students will receive:

  • The stipendiums are determined pursuant to Trust rating of masters due to the place of location of program (in London £17,000 per year (in Great Britain) outside London – £15,000 per year outside Great Britain) – it is recommended to consult a potential educational establishment about expenses; others – in certain cases the additional financing may be needed, the persons, who accompany the students, please, have a consultation).
  • Expenses for travel (for example, air tickets – there and back;
  • Approved payment for study. The cost of course will depend on an educational establishment. It is possible to train masters at extra-mural courses. If a stipendium is subject to taxation in the country of applicant’s residence, please, inform Trust, when the application is accepted. Trust will grant the money to cover the taxed part of stipendium so that each student would receive the stipendium that corresponds to his/her level. The following expenses/funds are anticipated:
  • Salary during probation period;
  • Expenses, stipulated by scientific research project (for example, materials, small tools, trips and participations in scientific conferences, field works and data collection)

The scholarships may be received at the corresponding establishments of receiving country with low or middle level of income (except India).
