SOLEMN MEETING ON OCCASION OF INITIATION OF FRESHMEN INTO STUDENTS
The solemn meeting on occasion of Initiation of freshmen into students took place on 7, September, 2016 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.
The following VIP guests went to the event to welcome the first year students: His Holiness Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret; People’s deputy of Ukraine, chairperson in Committee of VR of Ukraine on issues of health care, member in Supervisory Board of University Olga Bohomolets; President in NAMS of Ukraine, academician in NAMS of Ukraine Vitaliy Tsymbaliuk; member in Supervisory Board of University, academician in NAMS of Ukraine, corresponding member in NAS of Ukraine, Liubomyr Pyrig; head at Chief military medical clinical center “CMCH” at Ministry of defense of Ukraine Anatoliy Kazmirchuk; head at Ukrainian military medical academy, colonel of medical service Valeriy Savytskyy, chairperson in council of Kyiv city trade union of health care workers Larysa Kanarovska; people’s deputy of Ukraine of the 1st convocation, Candidate of Medicine Valeriy Ivasiuk; chief doctor at NCSH “Okhmatdyt” Yuriy Gladush, People’s Artist of Ukraine, Laureate of Shevchenko Prize, Laureate of Lesya Ukrayinka Prize from Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Nataliia Sumska.
The holiday was opened by performance of the State Hymn of Ukraine and lifting the State and University flags, for which this year they installed the flagpoles. This unchangeable performance demonstrates the importance of national identity to the students and reminds that Ukraine starts from everyone of us. The honorary right to lift the State Flag of Ukraine was granted to the warrior of the 25th aeromobile landing-force brigade, who has recently returned from ATO zone, senior lieutenant of medical service, assistant at department of orthopedic dentistry of University Sviatoslav Prokhorov.
During solemnities on occasion of Initiation into students the present people honored the heroes, who gave their lives for the peace and calm of native country, with the minute of silence. The first year students put the flowers to the Memorial to the students and teachers of University, who perished for the Victory during the Second World War, and to memorial stella to Heroes of Nebesna Sotnya, which is installed in the territory of University.
The future doctors-first year students were welcomed by rector of NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova, who emphasized the peculiarity of the holiday for the great university family. “We are glad that on the jubilee 25th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine for our state, the people, for whom the words “freedom”, “right of choice”, “democratic values” are not the legal terms but a way of life, become the students of university. You will study with today’s heroes, who with their example demonstrate not only the patriotism but the devotion to the medical care. Your persistent study, sincerity will become the reflection of occupation of doctor, which we justly call the noblest one. We believe that you can commit the most important heroic deed – to provide with the health of Ukrainian nation”.
His Holiness Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret blessed the first year students for successful study. “You have chosen a very important profession for humankind. Each human consists of the soul and body, so the moral courage is of the great importance at treatment of diseases. I am sincerely glad that such a great number of students enter the medical university and this means that you devote yourselves to the service to humans. Such service is the manifestation of the great sacrificial love”, – mentioned His Holiness Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret.
The guests wished the first year students to commit one important heroic deed – to study in order to become the best doctors as the highest professionalism is the patriotism to the Motherland. And they also told to the students that the kindness, love and mercy characterize a real doctor.
The first year students pronounced the Solemn oath of doctor in the presence of VIP guests, respectable heads at departments, professors, parents and relatives.
The new generation of the first year students represents all regions of Ukraine and Crimean Autonomous Republic. Among enrolled persons there are 19 winners in International and all-Ukrainian Olympiads and competitions; 330 students entered with the competitive score from 190 to 200; 482 students received the golden and silver meals or diplomas with honors of medical colleges. The separate category of entrants, which has the state support, is under special attention of University administration – this is the family members of participants in ATO. 42 such students were enrolled this year to the first course.
This day became the holiday for 2,439 future doctors and pharmacists, who for the first time had the right to put on the white gowns – a symbol of professional dignity.
