THE CONFERENCE “HIGHER MEDICAL EDUCATION: MODERN CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES” TOOK PLACE
The communicative relations of doctor and patient are one of the important issues in higher medical education. The modern researches by psychologists emphasize that the success in professional activity of doctor depends by 50% on ability to communicate and not only on professional competence. Namely the issue about communication of students as future doctors was discussed by participants in scientific practical conference “Higher medical education. Modern challenges and perspectives”, which took place at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University.
At the initiative of rector in NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova the University started the detailed study of issue about communication for students already from the 2nd course and all future doctors will further study this. This is the urgent problem, which has already come into educational space of Europe and the USA, as to educational purposes and programs for training of doctor. This educational project in Ukraine was implemented thanks to the team of head at department of psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy, first Vice-president in Association of psychotherapists and psychoanalysts of Ukraine, professor Oleh Chaban.
During the conference the participants considered the previous results and the experience of department, the positions for further implementation of this project as continuous professional education at University.
The Conference considered the following reports: “Clinical competencies of doctor in the world and methods for their assessment” (rector of NMU, professor Kateryna Amosova); «Communication as a problem (Medical psychological aspect)» (professor Oleh Chaban); «Absence of competence to notify bad news and their consequences» (professor Yurii Kuchyn); «Communicative skills of doctor as an urgent demand of modern medicine» (Iryna Koval); «Criteria for professional competence at heads of health care facilities in terms of leadership» (Tetiana Vezhnovets); «The fist experience in implementation of session form for organization of study and new provisions about drilling» (assistant professor Olena Stechenko); «Communicative skills of doctor-dentist in formation of psychological approach to child» (professor Nataliia Bidenko).
Within the conference there was the round table «Communicative and leader’s skills in medical education».
