On August 14, 2014 Student of Bogomolets National Medical University Volodymyr Yurychko – volunteer of battalion “Aydar”, was killed by a sniper bullet in the ATO area near the village Hreschovate in Luhansk region.
At first he was nurse at the forefront, then became skilful machine gunner in reconnaissance and sabotage detachment.
He was only 20 years old.
Volodymyr Yurychko was born and grew up in Sambir, Lviv region in a family of doctors.
He was one of the best students of the most prestigious medical university of Ukraine, promising athlete, principled student activist.
The future doctor has been preparing for war, and war called him in the ranks of defenders of Ukraine, he loved above all.
He said to his father: “If not me, then who?”.
On the wall in a hostel he wrote slogan, which has become a covenant for him: “With the shield or on the shield”.
From the first days of the Revolution of Dignity he has been among its most active participants, and after being wounded one of the first on the Maidan, he went to East Ukraine to defend us from the enemy.
Ahead Volodymyr was even a lifetime.
And he laid his youth for freedom and independence of Ukraine.
As he was sincere and true patriot to his last breath…

Farewell to the fallen Volodymyr Yurychko was held in Sambir on Sunday, August 17, 2014.
