WORLD HEALTH DAY AT O.O. BOGOMOLETS NMU

In order to celebrate World Health Day at O.O. Bogomolets NMU the traditional annual international scientific practical conference to this important day started its work on 5, April, 2018. World Health Day in 2018 was devoted to the 70th anniversary of WHO and total coverage of population with health care services. It is held under slogan “the total coverage of health care services – for all and everywhere”. The choice of such topic is natural in terms of existing problems in availability of medical aid to population in many countries of the world and financial risks as a result from necessity in its payment.

The conference was solemnly opened by pro-rector in scientific activity at O.O. Bogomolets NMU, professor Cherenko T.M., who mentioned that the conferences to World Health Day are held at University since 2005, and since 2007 they are held in international format. The co-organizers of conference are National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, WHO’s Bureau in Ukraine.

The participants in event this year were the leading scientists from 7 countries all over the world, including Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, the USA and Ukraine. The representatives from national scientific and educational establishments and practical health care facilities from different regions of Ukraine shared the scientific achievements and results,

The President in National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine academician Tsymbaliuk V.I. made the welcome speech to participants in the conference.

The consultant in Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in issues of health care, president in Ukrainian medical club, responsible secretary of SFULT Soroka I.M. read the letter from Chairperson in Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in issues of health care professor Bogomolets O.V.

General Director in State Establishment “Center of Public Health” at MHC of Ukraine Kurpita V.I. welcomed the participants and made the report “Urgent problems in development of public health in Ukraine”.

The glowing welcomes from foreign establishments-partners were made by President in Polish Society of Public Health, professor Anjey M. Fal (National Institute of Public Health, c. Warsaw, Poland), teachers at Texas University in Houston Woonmey Aibana (c. Houston, USA), Magna Greece University in c. Katandzaro Ludoviko Abenavoli (Italy), Trnava Saint Cyril and Methodius Lubiza Varechkova University (c. Trnava, Slovak Republic), etc.

The participants in the conference were the Institute of Herontology and Geriatrics at NAMS of Ukraine, Yu. I. Kundiiev Institute of Medicine of Labor, P.L. Shupyka National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Institute of Strategic Researches at MHC of Ukraine, Scientific Practical Center of Preventive and Clinical Medicine, SUS, Kyiv City Health Center, representatives from International Diabetic Association of Ukraine, teachers from 15 higher medical schools of Ukraine and establishments of postgraduate education in Ukraine.

The program of the conference included listening and discussing 26 scientific reports and acquaintance with 9 poster presentations and anticipated the overall discussion about different aspects of problem on total coverage with health care services, including medical social, clinical, preventive, pharmacological, economical, educational, legal and other aspects. The special attention was paid to the issues of public health, including, the prevention of tuberculosis, vaccination, prevention of non-infectious diseases, training of staff for public health care, strategies for development of public health in Ukraine, Poland and the USA. The subject of scientific discussions was the issues about coverage of different groups of population with health care services of individual and population character, including working population and persons of old aged groups.

Due to results from discussion they formed the proposals, which are directed to improve the availability of health care services, to improve the quality of medical service, preservation and consolidation of public health. They achieved the agreement about launch of new scientific projects with participation of teachers from NMU and colleagues from foreign scientific and educational establishments and organizations.
