MEETING OF STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC CLUB AT DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY NO 3

The first meeting of club at department of obstetrics and gynecology No 3 (head – professor Vasyl Beniuk) on topic “The use of stem cells in practice of doctor obstetrician-gynecologist” took place on 17, January, 2018. The students from different courses and faculties as always showed the interest to the topic.

The best specialists, thereby not only the obstetricians-gynecologists, join to the work with club members. The deputy director of cryobank at institute of Cellular Therapy Volodymyr Shablii was invited under personal assistance from head at department, professor Vasyl Beniuk and head of club, assistant Liliia Lastovetska for communication with students this time. He chose the materials from recent reviews of international level, which demonstrated the perspectives for use of stem cells not only in obstetrics and gynecology but in oncohematology, cardiology, treatment of autoimmune diseases, endocrine pathology, for consideration of topic at the meeting. This assisted to extension of scientific world outlook of present people, demonstrated the perspectives of medicine in the future.

The practical part of the meeting was performed by Volodymyr Shablii on the base of cryobank at Institute of Cellular Therapy. This is the first in Ukraine and one from the first establishment in Eastern Europe that during its existence thanks to own scientific achievements and international experience, performed more than 200 successful transplantations of stem cells. The students could not only communicate with scientist but on their own see the high technology laboratory, where already over 8,000 families keep their stem cells of cord blood.

The meeting was finished with reports by club members.

The student of VI course Valeriia Manzhara disclosed the topic “Cellular technologies in reproductology, obstetrics and gynecology” in English that assisted to deepening the knowledge of special medical terminology.

The club monitor, student of the V course Diana Ramazanova reported about perspectives for solution of problems on infertility using the stem cells. The participants in the form of already tradition interactive joined to discussion of disputable issues that for certain appear on the way of innovators, who implement the cellular technologies into medical practice.

It is necessary to mention the high level of preparation. As the topic is innovative and such information is still absent in Ukrainian speaking scientific editions and textbooks.

All club members received the aspiration for scientific achievements as according to the string theory all that we can imagine is the reality.
