MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF OPHTHALMOLOGY
On 29, March, 2018 the pro-rector in international relations and scientific pedagogical activity professor Olesia Lynovytska met with the representatives from International Council of Ophthalmology – pro-rector Helena Flippe, Chairperson in Committee for Continuous Professional Development at International Council of Ophthalmology, member in Committee for High Technology Methods of Teaching and Learning the Ophthalmology at International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) and professor David Keegan, member in Board of Directors at National Council of the Blinds in Ireland (NCBI), Chairman in working group for prevention from impaired vision in European network of group for the rarest diseases, member in scientific medical council Retina International. The head at department of ophthalmology professor Oksana Vytovska and head at international relations department Hanna Malunova also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting professor Helena Flippe and professor David Keegan told about activity of International Council of Ophthalmology, having emphasized the educational component as of top-priority directions. The International Council of Ophthalmology is engaged into accreditation of programs at pre-graduate and postgraduate level, as well as the programs of continuous professional education. During negotiations the parties discussed the possibilities for cooperation. In particular, they discussed the issues in programs of postgraduate education (specialization) in ophthalmology in different countries of Europe and discussed the possibility to receive the accreditation of program for specialization in ophthalmology of NMU from the International Council of Ophthalmology.
The parties also agreed that the productive start of cooperation between NMU and International Council of Ophthalmology will be the launch of program “Teach the teachers” for teachers-ophthalmologists.
