Oleksandr Yuliyovych Ioffe

Head of the Department of General Surgery №2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University, professor, MD, surgeon of the highest category, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, member of the Ukrainian Association of Bariatric Surgeons, member of the Ukrainian Association of Metabolic Medicine, member of the Council of Ukraine of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).

Graduated from the Kuibyshev Military Medical Faculty (Samara, Russia) in 1988. He attended internship in surgery in Riga, Latvia (1990). Worked in military hospitals of Latvia, Department of Surgery, Luhansk State Medical University, surgeon Mafiken – Hospital (South Africa). From 1994 to 1999 he held the position of Junior and Research Fellow of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the A. Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantation of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. Since 1999 he has been working at the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2000 he defended his PhD thesis, in 2006 – his grand PhD. In 2003 he received the title “Associate Professor”, in 2007 – the title “Professor”.

Surgical experience is 33 years. He has specialization in laparoscopic surgery (Moscow, Russia, 1992), oncology, urology. He received internships in abdominal surgery – Wurzburg, Germany (2002), bariatric surgery – Moscow, Russia (2007), Los Angeles, USA (2011).

The basic directions in surgical activity are: mini-invasive and laparoscopic surgery of abdominal organs, oncology, single-port operations, laparoscopic operations at hernias of different localization, bariatric surgery (obesity surgery).

In 2010, for the first time in Ukraine, he performed a single-port operation (one puncture) to remove the gallbladder.

Since 2001 he has been engaged in the problem of surgical treatment of obesity, has all kinds of operations for weight loss. All bariatric operations are performed laparoscopically. In 2010, he developed guidelines for practitioners: “Surgical methods of treatment of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.” Trained in Los Angeles (USA) on bariatric bypass surgery with one of the founders of overweight surgery, Prof. M. Phoby. In 2011, for the first time in Ukraine, he performed operation – laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, which is the “gold standard” in the treatment of superobesiry.

He is a member of the board of directors of NMU “General Surgery Issues”, specialized Scientific Councils.

Under his supervision, 4 PhD theses are defended, works are being carried out for the degree of doctor (3) and candidate (3) of medical sciences.

Yurii Andriiovych Dibrova

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.

Responsible for clinical work

In 1987 he defended his PhD thesis “Diagnosis and Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome”. In 2012 he defended his doctoral thesis “Substantiation of organ and pulmonary operative interventions in surgical treatment of gastric ulcers”. In June 2003, he was awarded the title of Senior Research Fellow.

He started working in the medical field in 1971 as a paramedic of a city student clinic. From 1975 to 2015 he worked in the department of gastrointestinal surgery of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantation of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine named after Acad. OO Shalimov initially as a junior researcher, since 1988 – a senior researcher, and since 2012 – a leading researcher. Since 2015, he has been an associate professor, and since 2018 he has been a professor of the Department of General Surgery # 2. He has 178 scientific papers, 12 patents of Ukraine for inventions, 2 guidelines for doctors, co-author of 1 monograph, 1 textbook. Since 1990 it has the highest certification category for surgery. In 1993-1994 he worked as a surgeon in the Libyan People’s Republic. He is a member of the Ukrainian Association of Metabolic Medicine.

Oleksandr Pavlovych Stetsenko

Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor

Graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University in 1995. In 1995-1997 studied at the internship in surgery at the Department of Thoracoabdominal and Vascular Surgery of P.L.Shupik National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

He has undergone training and advanced training in transplantology, endoscopic, laparoscopic, bariatric surgery in domestic and foreign leading surgical clinics (Germany, USA, Russia). He is a Fellow of the DAAD – German Academy of Exchange Education (one-year internship at the University Surgical Clinic in Würzburg, Germany). In October 2006 attended the 92nd Congress of American Surgeons (Chicago, USA). In November 2009, a practical course on mini-invasive surgery at the University Clinic in Jena, Germany. In January 2012 – an internship at the Tri-City Medical Center (Los Angeles, USA) on the latest principles of laparoscopic bariatric surgery, in April 2019 – at the Johnson & Johnson Institute (Hamburg, Germany) on modern means of preventing surgical wound infection, in October 2019 – Ponderos Clinic (Bucharest, Romania) for bariatric surgery.

From 2005 to 2009 studied at the postgraduate course of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after. OO Shalimov. In January 2011 passed the thesis defense on the topic “Surgical treatment of morbid obesity by gastric banding” for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. In February 2016 he was awarded the rank of Associate Professor.

From 1997 to 2003 he worked as a surgeon in the department of surgery of the esophagus, stomach and intestines of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after. OO Shalimov, from 2004 to 2010 – surgeon at the Department of Surgery of Kyiv Regional Hospital №2, from 2010 to 2011 worked as an assistant of the Department of Surgery №1 of NMU, from 2011 to 2012 – at Assistant Professor at Department of General Surgery No. 2 of NMU, from 2012 to the present time – Assistant Professor of the Department of General Surgery No. 2. General teaching experience – 10 years.

He has 115 scientific printed works, is the author of 12 patents of Ukraine for the invention, 2 guidelines for doctors, is the co-author of 1 textbook and 1 monograph.

Since 2008 he has the highest qualification category of surgeon. Introduces into the practical work of the surgical department mini-invasive techniques for the treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the abdominal organs, hernias of various localization, with morbid obesity and metabolic syndrome.

He is a full member of IFSO the (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders), Ukrainian Association of Bariatric Surgery, Ukrainian Association of Metabolic Medicine.

Graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2001. Studied in clinical residency at National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after. OO Shalimov from 2007 to 2009. He studied in correspondence postgraduate study National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after. OO Shalimov from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 he defended his PhD thesis “Precision pancreaticojejunostomy in pancreatoduodenal resection in the prevention of pancreatic fistula”. He is working on his doctoral thesis “Minimally invasive technologies in the surgical treatment of morbid obesity and metabolic syndrome”.

In 2011, he was selected by the competition for the position of Assistant Professor of the Department of General Surgery # 2 Bogomolets National Medical University. Since 2015 Assistant Professor of the Department of General Surgery №2 of NMU. Total teaching experience of 9 years.

He has 8 Declaration patents of Ukraine for inventions and 87 scientific papers. He is the co-author of 2 textbooks and 12 methodological developments in the course of “General Surgery”. Has higher qualification category in specialties “surgery” and specialization in “ultrasound diagnostics”. 19 years of medical experience.

In 2007 she graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University and received a diploma with honors. After graduating from the university, she was trained in the internship of NMU at the Department of Surgery # 1; received a doctor’s certificate in the specialty “surgery”. In 2010-2011 she worked as a surgeon doctor in the surgical department of the City Clinical Hospital №18 in Kyiv. Since November 2007 to August 2011 worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of General Surgery №1 of NMU. From September 2011 to January 2017 she worked as an assistant at the Department of General Surgery # 2 of NMU. Since January 2017 she has been working as an Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery # 2 of NMU. In October 2012, she defended her dissertation on the topic: “Substantiation of indications and choice of method of surgical treatment of patients with alimentary-constitutional obesity” and received the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences.

Performs the dissertation work on obtaining a scientific degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the theme: “Optimization of methods of surgical treatment of ventral hernias”.

Member of the Board of the Young Scientists Society of NMU, responsible and organizer of the project “Young Scientist School”. Member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), the Ukrainian Association of Bariatric Surgery, the Ukrainian Association of Metabolic Surgery, the Ukrainian Association of Surgical Herniologists, attends meetings of the Society of Surgeons of Kyiv and Kyiv region. He graduated with honors from the Kiev Medical Institute in 1983. From 1983 to 1983 he took an internship in the specialty “surgery” in the Vasylkiv central district hospital. After 5 years of specialization in surgery in the Baryshevsky central district hospital, Kyiv region, from 1988 to 1990 he studied in clinical residency at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Dental Medicine of Bogomolets Ukrainian State Medical University. From 1990 to 1998 he worked as an assistant of the above-mentioned department, from 1998 to 2001 – assistant of the department of general surgery № 2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University.

In 1994 he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of medical sciences in the specialty “surgery” on the topic “Clinic, differential diagnosis and surgical treatment of nodular hyperplastic processes of the thyroid gland and neck”. In 2003 he was selected for the post of Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery No. 2 with a course of battlefield surgery of the Bogomolets National Medical University.

Total teaching experience of 30 years. He is the co-author of 3 Declarative Patents of Ukraine for Inventions, the author of 3 rationalization proposals and the co-author of 120 scientific papers on acute surgical pathology of abdominal cavity and external covering, thyroid disease, and educational and methodological problems of teaching the course “General Surgery” and “Battlefield Surgery” at medical universities, including 2 study guides and 1 textbook. Has the highest qualification category in the specialty “surgery” and the first category in the specialty “endocrinology”. He has 37 years of medical experience. Secretary of the department. Responsible for the material and technical base of the department.

He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Kiev Medical Institute in 1973 with honors. From 1973 to 1974 he studied in internship. After an internship of 3 years he worked as a resident of the surgical department of the Pryluky central district hospital in Chernihiv region. From 1977 to 1980 he studied in clinical residency at the Department of Hospital Surgery of KMI. In 1980 he defended his PhD thesis “The use of amikin in the complex surgical treatment of patients with acute cholecystitis”. In 1980 – 1985 he worked as a surgeon in charge of the department of the Vyshgorod Central District Hospital of the Kiev region. In 1985 he was selected as an assistant at the Department of Surgery of the Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty of KMI.

From September 1, 1998 he was on the order transferred to the position of associate professor of the Department of General Surgery No. 2 with a course of battlefield surgery. On November 25, 1998, the competition commission of the medical faculty №4 was elected to the position of associate professor of this department, where he works to this day.

Author of 114 scientific papers. Scientific interests are related to the surgical problems of phlebology and urgent surgery. He is a surgeon of the highest category, an experienced teacher and scientist. Total teaching experience of 34 years.

He graduated with honors from the Medical Faculty of the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2000. From 2000 to 2002 he took an internship for specialized “surgery” at the Department of General Surgery No. 2 with a course of battlefield surgery of Bogomolets National Medical University on the basis of Kyiv City Clinical Hospital №3. Studying in the internship, and successfully defended master’s work. From 2002 to 2004 Studied in clinical residency at the Department of General Surgery No. 2 with a course of battlefield surgery at the Bogomolets National Medical University. In 2009, the thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences with the feature of “surgery” on the topic “Complex treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities complicated by trophic ulcers” is defended. Has an academic title “Associate Professor” since 2017.

In 2004 he was elected for the competition for the position of assistant, and since 2015 assistant professor of the Department of General Surgery №2 of NMU. From 2015 to 2017, he worked as the Deputy Dean for Internship and Advanced Training of Doctors, Leading Specialist, Head of the Center for Advanced Training of the Institute of Postgraduate Education of NMU. Total teaching experience of 16 years. He is a co-author of 57 printed works, 4 patents of Ukraine, dedicated to surgical pathology of abdominal organs, lower extremity vein surgery, wound healing and problems of teaching “general surgery” in medical universities, including 2 manuals.

He has 20 years of medical experience. He has higher qualification categories in the specialties “surgery”, specialization “vascular surgery” and “ultrasound diagnostics”. Possesses modern methods of diagnostics and treatment. Modern techniques of ultrasound diagnostics of pathology of lower extremity veins and their treatment with endovasal laser coagulation and sclerotherapy have been introduced and widely used in clinical practice.

From 2007 to 2009 studied in clinical residency at the Department of Surgery # 1 of NMU.

In 2012 he defended his dissertation for obtaining a scientific degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic: “Rationale for the use of laparoscopic prosthetic intraabdominal plastics of inguinal hernias”.

Since 2009 he has been working at the Department of Surgery # 1 as a laboratory assistant, and since 2011 – as an assistant, since 2012 – he has been elected to this position by competition. Since 2019 he has been working as an Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery # 2.

From 2000 to 2003 he studied in residency at the Department of Surgical Diseases of the Medical Institute of the Ukrainian Association of Folk Medicine. In 2006 he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences: “Surgical treatment of destructive-necrotic lesions of the lower extremities in patients with diabetes”.

Mykola Serhiiovych Kryvopustov

He graduated with honors from the Medical Faculty # 1 of the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2013. In 2016 he graduated from the internship in the specialty “Surgery”, received a master’s degree with honors. He worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of General Surgery No. 2.

During 2016-2019 he studied in residency (full-time form of study) at the Department of General Surgery №2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University. He worked on a 0.5 rate of assistant of the department.

On December 16, 2019 he defended his thesis “Two-stage surgical treatment of patients with morbid obesity” for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Knowledge 22 “Health care” in specialty 222 “Medicine”.

Fluent in English and computer technology. Has completed a course in obesity surgery and metabolic disorders in London (2017).

Has 67 scientific publications, 3 utility model patents.

Graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University, First Medical Faculty in 2000, qualification “medical doctor”. Studied: since 2000 till 2002 – intern in Shupyk Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education,  Department of Surgery and Proctology (qualification – surgeon); since 2002 till 2004 – clinical ordinator on surgery in Shupyk Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Department of Surgery and Proctology; since 2004 till 2007 – aspirant on surgery in Department of Emergency Medicine, Shupyk Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, during which was Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers grant holder. In 2007 defended the Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD)  dissertation on “Ways to optimize the surgical treatment of helicobacter-positive patients with ulcerative pyloroduodenal stenosis.”

Since December 2007 till February 2016 worked on position Assistant of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Department in Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education; granted Associate Professor position of this department since March 2016; granted the academic title Associate Professor in May 2018. Since 2009 till 2019 was Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Head’s assistant on education. Since September 2020 till now works on position Assistant of Department of General Surgery №2 in Bogomolets National Medical University.

Author of 88 scientific works, including: 4  articles associated with Scopus; 3 scientific papers published in foreign countries; 3 articles  published as an independent author; 2 educational and methodical works; 28 Ukraine’s patents, 5 of them – for notions.

Yaroslav Volodymyrovych Vladychuk

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Bogomolets National Medical University in 1998. From 1998 to 2000 he took an internship in the specialty “surgery” at the Department of Surgery №2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University at the Surgical Clinic of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital # 3.

In 2010 he successfully defended his dissertation for a Candidate of Medical Sciences Degree in Surgery on the topic: “Surgical treatment of non-neoplastic diseases of the anal canal and perineal tissue in the surgery department of a polyclinic one day” and received a Ph.D.

From 2019 – teaching assistant of the Department of General Surgery №2.

He is a member of the Association of Surgeons, Proctologists and Phlebologists of Ukraine. He regularly participates in specialized scientific congresses, seminars of the above-mentioned scientific societies, presenting the results of his own scientific researches.

He has 4 printed works in periodical scientific medical journals dedicated to the treatment of proctologic diseases in an outpatient treatment. He is the co-author of 4 Declaration Patents of Ukraine for Invention and Utility Model.

Anastasiia Vitaliivna Omelchenko

In 2013 she graduated from the Bogomolets National Medical University. During her student life she was a head of the Department of Surgical Sciences in the A.A. Kisel Students’ Scientific Society Council. She co-organized the scientific forums and was an Editorial Board member of the Ukrainian Scientific and Medical Youth Journal.

She has 25 published scientific works. Scientific interests: surgical treatment of sports hernia in football players, modern technologies in vascular surgery, treatment of wounds and burns. She has a patent for a utility model “A method of laparoscopic gernioplasty in football players in sports hernia”.

In 2016 she studied surgery at the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education P.L. Shupyk. She also worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of General Surgery #2 of the Bogomolets National Medical University and as a surgeon at the Kyiv City Scientific and Practical Center of Nephrology and Dialysis. Since 2017 she has been studying as a postgraduate student at the Department of General Surgery #2, working on a thesis on Features of surgical treatment of sports hernia in football players.
