Department of Biology was founded in 1924.

Romanenko Olexander – Head of the Department of Biology of the Bogomolets National Medical University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor.

He prepared more than 480 scientific works, of which more than 30 are educational books and scientific books, more than 40 are inventions and patents.
