Studying at the faculty takes place at all three clinical sites (Children’s Clinical Hospital № 7 Pechersk district of Kyiv, Dental Clinic of the National Medical University by the name of O.O.Bogomolets and Central Children’s district polyclinic of Golosiivskyy district of Kyiv).

The courses are provided with necessary teaching materials.

The department staff has performed and approved the training programs on the subject “Children’s Surgery” for students, medical interns and medical residents of dental faculty. The department has published the first on the territory of former Soviet textbook on children’s dental surgery (in 2003 – in Ukrainian, in 2005 – in Russian). The reference book for dental surgeon was published three times in 2003, 2005 and 2008. In collaboration it was published a textbook for medical and pediatric faculties “Fundamentals of dentistry” (2008). Developed and published guidelines for seminars and independent work on the subject “Children’s Surgery” for teachers and students of Faculty of Dentistry and the subject of “Fundamentals of Dentistry” for students of medical – psychological and pediatric departments. It was written and prepared for publication the English versions of teaching materials for students. It was established base of tests in KROK-2 format, which has more than 1400 tasks and test database in KROK-3 format, which involves up to 1000 tasks. It was written the case studies, visual aids and the radiograph bank was made.

The Department is a real support in training the professionals of medical and health-care profile of the discipline “Pediatric Surgery”. In this direction, it is being coordinated the work on teaching the discipline with of the departments of pediatric dentistry in medical universities of Ukraine. It has been written the new educational qualification characteristics of graduates. It has been published a textbook “Diagnosis and treatment of traumatic injuries of the articular processes in children.” It has been prepared and given to the press a textbook “Atlas of surgical dental diseases in children.”
