Students’ Scientific Group

The Department is a successor of humanistic traditions of Kyiv School of Internal Medicine of Professor Theophil Yanovskyi, who also from student years was engaged into research and together with Oleksandr Kysil, Petro Nikolskyi and Mykhailo Cherniakhivskyi in 1881 founded the Clinical Society of Medical Students of St. Volodymyr Imperial University.

Students’ scientific group of the Department has long and glorious history. All Chairmen of the Department took part in the students’ scientific organizations activity.

Majority of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors of the Department (Galyna Solovyova, Natalia Kozak, Volodymyr Bogomaz, Igor Svintsitskyi and others) were members of students’ scientific group.

The main purpose of students’ scientific group is to teach young scientists the methodology of clinical research and to help them to perform their own research.

Main research directions of the students’ scientific group:

• clinical and endoscopic features of functional gastrointestinal disorders and its impact on quality of life and psychological status of patients;
• diagnosis and treatment of comorbid conditions in patients with gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases.

Results of students’ scientific research are annually reported at the national and international scientific congresses and are published in medical journals and proceedings of scientific & practical conferences. Constantly members of students’ scientific group become the winners of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Students’ Research Works, the All-Ukrainian Students’ Academic Competitions, prestigious scientific congresses, award holders of National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine and Association of Higher Medical Educational Institutions of Ukraine, etc.

Traditionally, internal medicine sections of different students’ scientific conferences are held at the Department.
