PUBLIC POLICY ACTIVITY

Responsible for educational activities at the department – Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Internal Medicine №3, PhD Sokolova Larysa Ivanivna.

For many years the staff of the Department of Internal Medicine №3 have been working to educate a young doctor on the basis of humanity, charity and other moral and ethical standards.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Lecturer of the department Tarchenko Inna Petrivna, students are delighted to explore the little-known pages of the history of Ukraine, Ukrainian medicine and its leaders. (“National liberation movement”, “The life and sufferings of T.G. Shevchenko”, “Illness, creative work and life of Lesya Ukrainka”, “Formation of the Ukrainian volunteer movement”, “The history of Kruty”, “Events in Babi Yar”, “The history of Mezhyhirya Monastery”, “Pastoral care of Ukrainian servicemen” etc.)

An important aspect of a doctor’s work is a preventative work. Teachers of the department try to convey to students the importance of this aspect of activity. Every year the activities dedicated to the World COPD Day, World Diabetes Day, World Obesity Day and other diseases and pathologies are organized (including COVID-19).

For many years, the department has set up a student scientific and practical conference dedicated to the World COPD Day and the World No Tobacco Day, where students share information about important aspects of the disease, the harmfulness of all types of smoking as a major etiological factor of the COPD, report on their research on this topic and discuss controversial issues actively.

The department host patriotic directed activities, e.g. students has been reported on historical aspects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formation, starting from the times of Zaporozhian Sich, on the structure and composition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formation, and on problems of treatment and rehabilitation of veterans.

The new performed activities with the aim of discussing the behavioral algorithm in the presence of the use of the chemical, nuclear weapons, white phosphorus munitions , as well as in the case of accidents with the leakage of chemical substances are actual during the war.

It’s been organized cultural and educational event on the theme  “Yanovsky in memory of contemporaries”. Julia Sych and Olena Honcharuk are the authors of presented materials (the 5^th-year student of Medical Faculty №1). December 9, 2017.

Oleksandr Isayeva (the 5^th-year student, resident of Kherson) presented a report about the history of development of the Kherson Region, ranging from the earliest times to the present day (within the cultural and educational program). Students listened to interesting facts, watched videos about the unique nature of this region: sunny coasts, wonderful lakes, sand bars. October 18, 2018.

“Meeting on Taras Hill in Kaniv”

It’s been held the cultural and educational event on the basis of Department of Internal Medicine № 3, dedicated to our famous spiritual leader T.G. Shevchenko. The members have been informed about the burial of the great creator in Kaniv, where our the 4^th-year student of Medical Faculty №4, Oksana Kononenko lives. May 3, 2018.

The important part of the department work concerns to patriotic education. Students with the participation of teachers regularly hold various activities dedicated to significant historical events, e.g. the gathering of students, led by the staff of our department, on 29^th of January, 2018, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Battle of Kruty, that symbolizes the heroism and self-sacrifice of our youth in the struggle for the independence of Ukraine.

Annual student actions “Stop smoking!” and educational work among patients regarding diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common diseases: COPD, bronchial asthma, diabetes, myocardial infarction, etc.

There was an event dedicated to the unique national historical and cultural reserve of Chyhyryn, which is located in Chyhyryn district of Cherkasy region. Khrystyna Nimchenko (the 4^th-year student of Medical Faculty №4, resident of Chyhyryn) acquainted all the members with impressive historical stuff. January 21, 2019.

Book “Charity and Mercy on the territories of Ukraine”

The publication is timed to the 180th anniversary of Bogomolets National Medical University and is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

The book presents the ancestral traditions of the Ukrainian people, which stood at the origins of charity and the role of charitable societies in сare providing for the sick and infirm people. There are many examples of selfless acts of charity and interesting facts from the lives of famous benefactors and Maecenases in the book. The publication is intended for medical students, interns, teachers, as well as for anyone interested in the history of Kyiv, examples of charity, philanthropy and benevolence.

The authors reveal a wide panorama of old times. Stages of formation and development of the educational process and research work are complicated in the historical aspects. But despite that, they became the basis for the creation of our own school, the leaders of which at various stages of our history were scientists – therapists with a world name.

When the authors were finding and studying the old hospitals, they delved into the historical vicissitudes associated with the places where our predecessors had worked.

It became clear while collecting materials that the history of Department is closely related to the life of a big city. The publication is useful to everyone who is interested in the history of NMU, medicine and ancient Kyiv, to all the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, our graduates – dentists.

Action “Students-dentists – against smoking! (Exchange a cigarette for a candy)”, dedicated to World No Tobacco Day (November 21, 2013)

The educational event was organized by students’ scientist group of the Department together with the students’ scientific group of the Department of Surgery of the Dental Faculty and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the support of the student parliament and the dean’s office of the Dental faculty and was held on the territory of the stomatological building of NMU and in dormitories №2 and №5.
