History

Department staff in 1999

In accordance with the decision taken in 1842 was ordained by the University of Kiev in 1845 started the first Imperial Department of pathophysiology of pathologic anatomy.

It was led by and managed it from 1841 to 1853 of MI ratio NI Pirogov Kozlov. From 1854 to 1869 – known pathologist and therapist Y. Yoghurt .

In 1869, according to the university statute , adopted in 1863 , it was established the independent Department of General Pathology . Her first Professor and Head , on the recommendation of R. Virchow was elected Nikanor Hrzhonschevskyy Adamovich , a graduate of the University of Kazan , associate professor of the course of hygiene and general pathology , founder of Histology, Embryology and comparative anatomy of Kharkov University. He was widely known for his experimental research with the use of physiological vital dye injection , which was praised by his scientific supervisor – Rudolf Virchow.

With this method , it was decided the disputed question of the epithelium in the pulmonary alveoli , conducted basic research microscopic structure of the kidney , liver , spleen, lymph vessels in both normal and by pathology. Among the priorities include work NA Hrzhonschevskoho “On the vasomotor nerves .”

Despite intense research activities in the field of histology – he developed the physiology and pathology, and always called himself pathophysiologists .

He was elected dean of the Faculty of Medicine (1870-1872 years), for a long time, he was president of the Kiev Medical Association ( organized with the Society ‘s first free hospital Kiev ), chairman of the committee of public people’s readings.

In 1888 the department was headed by a graduate of the University of Kiev Faculty of Medicine University of Kiev Vladimir Valerianovich Pidvysotsky ( 1857-1913 years), who is considered the founder of the Ukrainian school of pathophysiology . His immediate disciples were academics DC Zabolotnyi OO Bohomolec ( future president of Ukraine ), Professor: IG Savchenko , LA Tarasevych , SM Schastnyy , AF Minkowski.

Already in Kyiv during VV Pidvysotsky revealed as an outstanding scholar , a brilliant teacher, a well-known public figure. For a short time he prepared and published the first in Ukraine , one of the world’s best textbook ” Fundamentals COMMON эksperymentalnoy and pathology ” ( Kyiv , 1891) . This book was not only all-Russian , but also international recognition. It was translated into French, German , Greek and Japanese. For a short time (two years in Kiev and Odessa in seven years ), he was able to do so much that only is his name should be written in golden letters in the history of Ukrainian science. Research interests Vladimir Valer’yanovycha was extremely broad. Remain his classic study of the regeneration of the liver , kidney and salivary glands. By Program for many years have been initiated his problems of infectious diseases , epidemiology, reactivity, immune system, endocrinology and others.

Question etiology of tumors and chemotherapy is initiated at the Medical Faculty of Novorossiysk University in Odessa, which V. Pidvysotsky Headed in 1900 remain relevant and at the Institute of Experimental Medicine in St. Petersburg, whose director he was appointed ( 1905-1913 gg.) Odessa during the life and work of V. Podvysotskogo oznamenuvsya creating beautiful architectural complex of buildings of the new medical faculty. He founded the medical journal ” Russian Archive pathology , medicine and klynycheskoy bakteryolohyy ” and the newspaper ” Russian doctor .”

In 1900 – 1922 the department was headed by a brilliant representative of the Moscow school of pathophysiology, student professor of OB Vogt – prof. Vladimir Karlovich Lindeman . He is known for his work on pulmonary embolism and development laboratory IIMetchnikov cytotoxic experimental model of glomerulonephritis.

Since 1910 Dr. Lindeman was both head of the department and director of the Kiev Bacteriological Institute (now Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. Gromashevskiy Ministry of Health of Ukraine). At the beginning of the First World War, he organized and led the work of the Commission on anti-gas protection (later – Sanitary -Chemical Institute , now the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine).

In 1910 – 1911 рр. Prof. Dr. Lindeman published ” Tutorial COMMON pathology ” monograph ” How Nasledstvennost variability and cause illness .” The most famous disciples of Professor Dr. Lindemann were professors SD Timofeev , VV Vinogradov , S. Chernyakhovskij , NV Vashetko , AA Krontovskyy , PA Kucherenko, IA Zavialov and others.

After Dr. Lindemann department was headed by his student , a graduate of the University of St.. Vladimir ( 1908) – Nicholas Panfilovych Vashetko . Operating physician clinical- trial department of the Kiev military hospital , he also engaged in research activities under the direction of Dr. Lindemann . During the First World War, he worked as a military doctor , took an active part in the formation of Ukrainian medical institutions , was secretary of the commission for the preparation of the Second All-Ukrainian Congress of Physicians.

From 1918 he worked at the Kiev Medical Institute as professor of general pathology ( pathophysiology ). Since 1922 – Head of the Department of Pathophysiology at the same time in 1920 – 1924 he headed the department of pharmacology.

During the management of the Department of MP Vashetko continued to study the pathophysiology of urinary tract problems .

In 1931 the department was headed by Professor Eugene A. Tatarinov , who also worked at the Institute of Experimental Biology and Pathology (Director – Academician AA Bohomolec ).

Close contact with the teacher identified the nature of fruitful scientific activity .

Proceedings of the development department used by Professor E. Tatarinov when writing the chapters ” The pathology of cells and tissues ,” ” The doctrine of immunity ,” ” Pathology of Blood” trohtomnoho management of Pathological Physiology , published , edited by O. Bogomoltsa in 1933 and 1940 In 1939, EO Tatarinov elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences .

During World War II , Professor E. Tatarinov took part in the study of the pathogenesis of ” haemorrhagic oedematous eritemy .”

Profeors EO Tatarinov led the scientists medical advice and Ukrainian Society of Pathologists , was dean of the medical faculty , directed the Department of Science Kiev Medical Institute.
