DIRECTOR IN INSTITUTE OF HYGIENE AND ECOLOGY TOOK PART IN CREATION OF FUNDAMENTAL MONOGRAPH “NATIONAL REVIEW OF CURRENT SITUATION WITH MANAGEMENT OF BIOCIDES IN UKRAINE”

Director in Institute of Hygiene and Ecology at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, professor Serhii Omelchuk as a national expert, as a member in author’s collective, took part in creation of fundamental monograph “National review of current situation with management of biocydes in Ukraine”, This work was prepared within implementation of project “Consolidation of potential for safe management of biocydes (pesticides and disinfectants) to reduce the impact on population in Ukraine”.

The National review summed up the data about production, import, export, transportation, use/consumption of biocydes in Ukraine and problems on treatment with their wastes, as well as legal, institutional, administrative and technical aspects in management of biocydes in Ukraine; rendered the expert assessment of modern conditions with treatment with biocydes in Ukraine and formed the proposals and recommendations for consolidation of potential and establishment of system for safe management with biocydes in Ukraine during their life cycle in order to remove the negative impact of biocydes on environment and public health.

The work was made in creative cooperation of European Regional Office of WHO and WHO’s European Center of Environment and Health within the Program for Rapid Start of Strategic Approach to International Regulation of Chemical Substances (PRSSAIRCS) at financial support of UN’s Program of Environment according to Methodical Recommendations from UN’s Academic and Scientific Research Institute for Preparation of National Profile for Assessment of Infrastructure and Needs in the Sphere of Management of Chemical Substances.
