THE FINAL GAME OF “BRAIN RING IN DENTISTRY” TOOK PLACE
The final game of intellectual competition “Brain ring in dentistry” was held on 15, April, 2016 in lecture hall at Dental medical center of O.O. Bohomolets NMU. 5 teams took part in the final: Bykovyna state medical university, Vinnytsia M.I. Pyrogov national medical university, students from O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, doctors-interns at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, combined team of 3M (company-partner of the game), presented by students and interns from different medical schools of c. Kyiv.
According to the words by organizer of the event, professor Nataliia Bidenko, the brain ring at O.O. Bohomolets NMU is held already for the sixteenth time. She is sure that such competitions are the support to intellect of young talents, who associate their future with dentistry.
The jury included the teachers of NMU and guests: professors Larysa Khomenko, Maryna Antonenko, Liudmyla Yakovenko, Oksana Volovar, assistant professors Oleksander Gryban, Yuliia Kolenko, Vasyl Vozniuk, Svitlana Liubarets, Serhii Polischuk (M.I. Pyrogov Vinnytsia national medical university), assistant Nataliia Khomych (Bukovyna state medical university), Svitlana Khlebas (P.L. Shupyka NMAPE).
The game consisted of some competitions: competition of quiz, competition of questions for creative thinking, which answers were assessed by jury, competition of captains, competition “home task”. In addition to the scores, which the players received during the game, the jury assessed the names of teams and their own quizzes in dentistry.
The team “470 nanometers” of interns from O.O. Bohomolets NMU won due to results from the game. However each team showed itself rather powerfully, brilliantly, each of them was original, creative, interesting – all teams were awarded both with merits and prizes of sponsors.
The team of interns from O.O. Bohomolets NMU “470 nanometers” received the largest number of scores. The team “E.max” from M.I. Pyrogov Vinnytsia national medical university was behind the leader by 0.25 scores, thus, the jury unilaterally acknowledged it as “statistically unreliable difference”, therefore, this time two teams took the first place.
3rd place – team of students from O.O. Bohomolets NMU
4th place – team of Bukovyna state medical university “Kapa”
5th place – combined team of 3M “Spoav”.
Historical background: Brain ring in dentistry – annual international intellectual students’ game, established at dental faculty of O.O. Bohomolets National medical university in 2000. Brain ring is performed within the events by Students’ scientific society at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university. Ukrainian association of preventive and children’s dentistry and department of children’s therapeutic dentistry and prevention of dental diseases of NMU under supervision of Doctor of Medicine, professor, Honorary scientists and technician of Ukraine Larysa Khomenko supervise the project. Creator, moderator and presenter of Brain ring in dentistry – Doctor of Medicine, professor at department of children’s therapeutic dentistry and prevention of dental diseases of NMU Nataliia Bidenko.
The game started as the competition of students’ teams only from our dental faculty, later the future dentists from other higher medical schools of Kyiv, then – Ukraine, then – Moscow, Minsk, Saint Petersburg joined. Some away games were held in Russia and Belarus. We launched the branch – game “What? Where? When? in dentistry”. We started performing the selective competitions in other cities of the country.
