ALL-UKRAINIAN CONTEST OF STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC WORKS IN ENGLISH IN THE SPHERE “CLINICAL MEDICINE”
The scientific practical conference in the 2nd tournament of all-Ukrainian contest of students’ scientific works in English in the sphere “Clinical medicine” was held on 22, March at O.O. Bogomolets NMU. 12 reporters from 6 medical higher schools took part in the scientific students’ forum. The field-specific contest commission at the head with pro-rector in scientific activity, professor T.M. Cherenko and her deputy – head at department of propedeutics of internal medicine No 2, professor V.Ye. Kondratiuk selected the best creative works by future doctors and recommended them for defense.
Professor T.M. Cherenko in her introductory speech wished all participants with success and expressed the assuredness that today’s forum would become the impulse for new scientific achievements. This is the first students’ English speaking conference, when the reports, questions and discussion lasted only in English. The jury that consisted of leading teachers and scientists assessed not the level in knowledge of language but first of all attracted attention to the urgency, practical significance and independence of performed researches in the sphere of clinical medicine. They also took into consideration the competency, activity and persuasiveness of reporters themselves. We should mention about high activity at members of jury that were invited from other establishments – head at division of clinical and epidemiological cardiology SE “D.F. Chebotariov Institute of Gerontology at NAMS of Ukraine”, professor Yena L.M. and head at department of internal and occupational diseases at HPEE “Kyiv Medical University”, professor Batushkina V.V.
All presented works were interesting and, mostly important, have the perspectives for implementation. Especially active discussions lasted during description of issues about diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular, infectious and endocrine diseases. The report and the work by student from Sumy State University Vincent Kusi “Epstein-Barr viral infection: epidemiology and clinic”, supervisor assistant professor Ilina V.V., caused to lively interest and resembled the round table for discussion of problems on peculiarities for run, clinic and diagnostics of Epstein-Barr virus, which is considered as the most wide spread and contagious viral pathology. Vincent Kusi due to unilateral decision by jury became the winner in the contest. All students received the certificates of participants in final conference and the gifts.
NMU was represented by three reporters. It is pleasant to mention that our two young scientists became the winners. They are five year students – Hanna Fedoryshyn (medical faculty No 1), “Modern diagnostic of gastroesophageal reflux in the patients with bronchial asthma”, scientific supervisor assistant professor Krasiuk I.V. – 2nd place and Khrystyna Hrynkevych (medical faculty No 4), “Vaccination and reducing mortality and morbidity of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus in Ukraine (1944-2015)” scientific supervisor assistant professor Mokhort H.A. – 3rd place.
