JOINT MEETING FOR DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOGNOSY AND BOTANY WITH DIVISION ON MEDICAL BOTANY AT M.M. HRYSHKO NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN
On 9, February, 2018, the employees at department of pharmacognosy and botany at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University performed the joint meeting with division of medical botany at M.M. Hryshko National Botanic Garden at NAS of Ukraine, representatives from divisions of natural flora, new cultures of tropical and subtropical plants, dendrology and park study.
Let’s mention that the department for a long time cooperates with this establishment, in particular, the teachers performed the field experiments for fulfillment of dissertation papers in experimental sites of botanic garden. M.M. Hryshko National Botanic Garden is the leading scientific establishment of Ukraine, which consists of 8 scientific divisions and 2 laboratories, where the researches on problems in introduction and acclimatization of plants, dendrology and park study, preservation of gene pool of rare and endangered species of plants, selection and genetic flowerbed decorative, fruit, vegetable and fodder crops. Medical botany, biotechnology of tropical and subtropical plants, allopathy (chemical interaction) of plants and bioindication are performed.
The purpose of the meeting – to reinforce the scientific research cooperation, first of all with division of medical botany and to form the plan for performance of academic practice for students from the 2nd and 3rd course in pharmaceutical faculty under specialty “Pharmacy” and “Technology of perfumes and cosmetics”. The students can learn the medicinal plants in collection sites, as well as in closed soil with the species of natural flora from different regions all over the world. The plan for acquaintance of students during practice with medicinal plants, flora complexes was discussed: “Forests of plain part of Ukraine”, “Ukrainian Carpathians”, “Steppes of Ukraine”, “Crimea”, “Caucasus”, “Middle Asia”, “Altai and Western Siberia”, “Far East”, which are presented in the botanic garden.
After the meeting the teachers of department were invited to the exhibition “Healing plants: health and beauty”, which was solemnly opened by director of botanic garden Doctor of Biology Nataliia Zaimenko. The exhibition presented the achievements by different divisions of botanic garden and other scientific establishments, for example, M.H. Kholodnyi Institute of Botany at National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where, in particular, the experimental part of dissertation paper by assistant at department of pharmacognosy and botany Pidchenko V.T on study of possibility for cultivation of biomass of fungus Ganoderma lucidum with immune modulatory activity was performed. The cooperation between department of pharmacognosy and botany at O.O. Bogomolets NMU and leading scientific research establishment – M.M. Hryshko National Botanic Garden at NAS of Ukraine will assist to extension of scientific researches by teachers and students of pharmaceutical faculty.
