SELECTIVE STAGE OF STUDENTS’ OLYMPIAD IN PEDIATRICS

The 1^st selective stage of Students’ Olympiad in pediatrics was held on 14, February, 2018 on the base of department of pediatrics No 1 at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University. 13 students from senior courses in medical faculty No 1 took part in it. Due to results from the 1^st selective stage the department of pediatrics No 1 for participation in the II stage of Olympiad recommends the students of the 5^th course in medical faculty No 1 Perederii Oleksandr and Razumeiko Kateryna. The head at department of pediatrics No 1, Doctor of Medicine, V.S. Berezenko made the welcome speech to participants, where she emphasized the importance in performance of Olympiad not only for students but for teachers. The tasks of Olympiad requires not only high basic level of knowledge from students but the use of creative approach as the final result from Olympiad would be the solution of non-standard tasks. The tasks were directed to the ability to analyze and to interpret the data from laboratory and instrumental methods of examination, to unite the received data with results of clinical examination. The special accent at development of tasks was made on regularity in growth and development of child, physiological and functional peculiarities of child’s organism, origin and run of children’s diseases in connection with AFO, mechanisms for adaptation of child’s organism in the process of development and their change under influence of different factors, on issues of differential diagnosis in complex clinical cases. The important component of Olympiad is to drill the practical skills near the bed of patient with further composition of plan for examination of patient, discussion of probable results from laboratory instrumental methods of examinations and treatment.
