VISIT OF REPRESENTATIVES OF DENTAL MEDICAL CENTER AND DENTAL FACULTY TO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Promising area of international partnership is a collaboration of NMU and Medical University of Urumqi (People’s Republic of China) and Central dental hospital of Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region, which is the main clinical base of stomatological Faculty of this institution. On July 20-25, 2017, delegation from Bogomolets National Medical University – Director of Dental Medical Center of Professor Andrii Kopchak and Associate Professor of the Department of Conservative Dentistry Yuliia Kolenko – visited Urumqi City on invitation from Chinese colleagues to participate in the ceremony of the agreement signing between the NMU and Government of the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region, which was held on July 21, 2017.

The agreement provides a close cooperation in the framework of the development of economic belt for the New Silk Road and strategic partnership in the field of health care between Ukraine and China, in particular, provision and installation of the Chinese equipment for providing remote diagnostics, training, and on-line consultation in the Dental Medical Center at NMU by funds allocated by the Government of Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region. Dental Medical Center of NMU will be included in the extensive network of China clinics and other countries within the framework of telemedicine development, which is implemented by the Government of China. Ukrainian experts will provide consulting assistance to Chinese colleagues in complicated clinical cases, exchange relevant experiences and cooperate in the framework of educational projects.

The signing of the agreement was a natural result of the systematic work of the employees of Dental Faculty, Dental Medical Center and Department for International Cooperation of NMU. In June 2016, Prof. Nataliia Bidenko (Dean of Dental Faculty, Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Prevention of Dental Diseases) and associate professor Oleksander Hryban (Department of Prosthetic Dentistry) took part in the Medical Forum of Xinjiang Silk Road, which was held in Urumqi City, spoke with the administration of Dentistry Faculty and Urumqi Dental Clinic. In May 2017, Chinese delegation, headed by Director of Urumqi Dental Clinic, Dr. Nie Bin visited the Dental Medical Center at NMU. During the negotiations it was agreed on main provisions of the future agreement and received an invitation for the visit of NMU delegation to China. In addition to signing the agreement, during the visit to Urumqi City Ukrainian scientists participated in the Medical Forum of Xinjiang Silk Road, where they presented a report on the recent advancements in the field of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, computer modelling and prevention of complications in establishing dental implants. The report triggered a lively discussion and received high appreciation from Chinese colleagues. During the Forum, there was held a meeting with the President of Dentists Association of Hong Kong, Mr. Cheung Leung Tat, representatives of the dental faculties of Urumqi, Guangzhou, Beijing, heads of Government and representatives of the dental clinics in Urumqi and the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region. Both parties have expressed great interest in further cooperation and agreed on detailed forms of joint activities for the next year of 2018.
